BERTScope 26 and 28.6 Gbit/s Clock Recovery Models
The new BERTScope CR 25000A/28000A and high sensitivity CR HS 25000A/28000A models fulfill the Golden PLL needs of the emerging 25.78125 Gb/s 100 Gb Ethernet standard (100GBASE-ER4/LR4) and beyond. The new models include built-in equalization for clock signal derivation, enabling lock to closed eye signals impaired with severe Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI).  Like the companion CR 12500A and CR 14300A products, these instruments also include features such as self-measured and displayed PLL frequency response curves, easy to use front panel or software integrated controls, automatic locking, accurate loop bandwidth, and flexible peaking.

Extended Loop Bandwidth Option
The maximum loop bandwidth is extended from 12 to 24 MHz with the Extended Loop Bandwidth (XLBW) Option. Many recent serial bus standards such as USB 3.0 require a high Jitter Transfer Function (JTF) bandwidth, which in turn requires a higher loop bandwidth.  For example, the XLBW option is capable of achieving the 4.9 MHz JTF bandwidth for USB 3.0.

With jitter being such a complex and contentious parameter, each clock recovery instrument is intended to make compliance testing simple, repeatable, and accurate.  Precision Cable Set

An optional set of matched clock and data connector cables is available as an accessory to the Clock Recovery instrument. These cables are designed and manufactured to exacting tolerances, eliminating any need to compensate for cable disparity during testing.

  • Instrumentation quality clock recovery
  • 150 Mb/s to 12.5 Gb/s, 14.3 Gb/s, 26 Gb/s or 28 Gb/s continuous coverage
  • Accurate variable loop bandwidth from 100 kHz to 12 MHz for data rates up to 14.3 Gb/s; 200 kHz to 12 MHz for data rates >14.3 Gb/s
    • Extend maximum loop bandwidth to 24 MHz with the XLBW Option
  • Auto lock capability with LED display
  • Programmable peaking adjustment with first and second order roll off settings
  • Self-measured and displayed PLL frequency response
  • Control interface integrated into BERTScope view, or stand-alone with included BERTScopePC software
  • Single-ended or differential 50 Ω data inputs/outputs (data outputs not available on the high sensitivity HS model)
  • DC-coupled data through-path, or on the CR 25000A/28000A, choose the high sensitivity HS model for applications involving small signal amplitudes
  • Full (up to 14.3 GHz) and divided clock outputs with selectable divide ratios
  • Measurement of clock phase error as a function of frequency and time
  • Data measurement capability
    • Edge density measurement — determine the mark density of the signal under test
    • Spread Spectrum Clock Waveform View and dF/dt measurement
  • Ideal for spread spectrum clock (SSC) applications with large jitter excursions
  • Built-in equalization on the CR 25000A/ 28000A models enables locking to signals impaired with severe inter-symbol interference (ISI)
